Frederick Bubolz, Well Known Rockland Man
From effects of a stroke of paralysis which he suffered Friday, Frederick Bubolz, a prominent town of Rockland pioneer and father of County Treasurer Robert Bubolz,
died Sunday. Up to Friday, Mr. Bubolz appeared in robust health and his sudden death will be a shock to friends. The funeral will be held from the late home Wednesday, at 1 o’clock, with burial at Reedsville.
Mr. Bubolz, who was 76 years of age, came to Manitowoc County as a youth of 22 in 1855 and had resided here ever since, one of the best known and highly respected pioneers of the county. He enlisted for the civil war and was with Sherman in his memorable campaign and upon his return to the county, again located in Rockland.
Mr. Bubolz is survived by a widow and ten children, five sons and five daughters, all residents of this county.
In all relations of life Mr. Bubolz was a man who had the respect of the community and was held in esteem by a large circle of friends to whom his death will be a sorrow. He was a man of retiring disposition and had never sought public office though he had been active in support of the welfare of his home town.

Frederick(sic) Bubolz, a leading farmer of the town of Rockland, two miles south of Reedsvlle, the father of County Treasurer Robert Bubolz, died Sunday afternoon as the result of a stroke of paralysis which he sustained on Friday. At first it was hoped he would recover his usual strength but it later developed that
that was impossible.
Mr. Bubolz was born in Germany in 1833 and came to this country with his parents and three brothers in 1856. In 1861 he was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Mueller and settled on the farm where he had ever since resided. He was a man of the highest standing, and with his neighbors his word was equal to his bond. He was a man of quiet demeanor, an agreeable companion, and his honest methods gained him the respect of all who enjoyed his acquaintance.
He is survived by his wife and ten children, five sons and five daughters. The children are Robert, Henry, Fred, William and Adolph, and Mrs. Louis Grimm, Mrs. Louis Klessig, Mrs. John Wordel, Mrs. Otto Mahnke and Miss Rosaline Bubolz, all
residents of this county. He is also survived by one brother, Daniel Bubolz of Marshfield. Mr. Bubolz was an old soldier having served in the Union army during the civil war from 1864 until the close of the war and was in the siege of Petersburg and Richmond.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Reedsville and was largely attended. Rev. Koch, pastor of the church, performed the last sad rites.
Among those from this city who attended the funeral were August Schuette, John J. Healy, A. J. Clark, Christ Muth, Chas. Streich, Louis Schuette, Henry Groth, Chas, Cary, A. Phol, Fred Mahnke, Joseph Wendt, Fred Gerpheide, Jos. Schindler, John
Hoyer, J. Kulnik, Wm. Barkham, Henry Meisner, E.S. Crowe, Mrs. Louis Falge, Mrs. E. S. Schmitz and Mrs. Gustav Mueller.
