Sidney Rice,79, of 101 Superior St.,passed away February 9,1989 in Porter Memorial Hospital,Valparaiso.Mr. Rice was the retired owner of Sid's Service Station,which he operated for 40 years in Michigan City,IN.He was born August 11,1909 in Philadelphia.He moved to Michigan City in 1931.On March 21,1931,in LaPorte,he married Stella Januchowski.She died April 9,1979.Surviving are two sisters,Sylvia Waldo and Lenore Strauss,both of Philadelphia'and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Rice was an Army veteran of World War II.He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church,the American Legion Skwiat Post 451,Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2536,Eagles,Moose Lodge 980 and Phi delti Kappa Fraternity.
Memorial services were held later by Ott/Haverstock Funeral Home.Cremains were interred in Riverview Cemetery,South Bend,IN.
