Catherine Elizabeth Harris, 89, died Thursday, November 9, 1995, after a lengthy illness. She was born December 18, 1905 at Guymon, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Stuart and Mary Maud Harris. Miss Harris graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1926 with a major in chemistry, and was a member of Iota Sigma Pi. After graduation, she taught school for one year at the state school at Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She then began a life-long career with the Oklahoma Health Department as the State of Oklahoma Serologist for more than 40 years. Miss Harris converted to Catholicism in 1941 and became active with the Junior Catholic Daughters and Senior Catholic Daughters. Miss Harris was Regent of the Court, Santa Maria. She was district deputy for a region. Miss Harris traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. During her life, she was selected as 'Woman of Achievement.' She was secretary and treasurer of Kelly Cousins, a family organization, Altar Guild, and other Catholic womens' organizations. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Garden Flower Club, Womens' Dinner Club, the Resume Book Club, a charter member of the Sportsman's Club, and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Miss Harris is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Howard Van Dyke of Houston, Texas and Juanita and John Spencer of Norman, Oklahoma. Prayer service and Rosary will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 1995 at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 1995 at Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
