Katerina married Jakob Christmann, Sr. in 1893 in Eureka, South Dakota, after Jakob divorced his first wife, Eva. She and Jake had 9 children, three of which died in a house fire. Sometime after 1918, Katerina and Jake moved from North Dakota to Glasgow, Montana, where Jake died in 1918. After his death, she and her son, Fred, moved back to North Dakota. In 1920, Katerina married John Horning in Stanton, North Dakota. After his death, she married William DeWitt in Dodge, North Dakota, in 1928. She did not have children with either John or William.
