Levi Zimmerman, son of Reuben Zimmerman and Phidelia Crawford, married Carletta Eddy 13 Feb 1862 in Noble Co., Indiana.

Levi volunteered to the 152nd Regiment, Indiana Infantry, in which he served from March to August 1865.

Levi and Carletta had three children;
Carrie Leora born 19 Sep 1864.
Forest L. born 20 Jan 1873.
Olive Helen born 14 Feb 1875.

When Carletta died in 1889 in Nebraska, Levi and his children moved to Colorado. Levi was a wagon maker. He died near Berthoud, Weld Co., and is buried at Berthoud Greenlawn Cemetery, Larimer Co., Colorado. (Berthoud is right on the County border, and some of the more rural areas are still in Weld County.)

Obituary, Berthoud Bulletin, 10 Nov 1911.
Levi Zimmerman, father of Mrs. Sam Newkirk and Mrs. Carrie Sankey, died at the Newkirk home on October 28, aged 73 years. Mr. Zimmerman had been a resident of Colorado for twenty-three years, and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a native of Pennsylvania, a G. A. R. man, having enlisted in Company C, 152nd Indiana volunteers.
Besides the two daughters mentioned, he leaves a son who is now in Oregon.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. York of Dilley Chapel on October 30, and burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Note: Although the obituary states Levi was born in Pennsylvania, he was born in Wayne County, Ohio. His son Forest had returned to Indiana, and was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the time of his father's death.

On the death record it stated Levi died five miles south of Berthoud. In the obituary, it stated he died at the residence of Samuel Newkirk (his son-in-law). Samuel was the informant on the death certificate, and stated his address was Berthoud.
