Wilfred T. "Bill" Brown, 63, south Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center.
He was also known as "Brownie" to many of his friends and co-workers and was born March 28, 1935, in Nevada, Mo. He was a member of the Nevada Church of the Nazarene. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was past commander of the police department's VFW Post #9762. He served with the Kansas City Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement from KCPD, he worked for the Lake Lotawana Police Department as well as Hillcrest Country Golf Course. He was a member of the Police Benefit Association.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jan Brown; a daughter, Cheryl Duncan; a son, Cliff Brown; his mother, Lenora Brown, Nevada, Mo.; two grandchildren, Brandon and Lacie; two nieces, Christy Mann and Angela Turner; and several cousins and other relatives. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ina J. Wilson, formerly of Fort Scott.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Park Lawn Chapel with burial in the Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Kansas City Police Benefit Association.
