CHAPMAN, Olive K., was born in Erie, Colorado, September 5, 1912, to John Thomas Knowles and Nellie May Adams. Her parents died in the 1918 flu epidemic, leaving three young daughters. The girls were adopted by their mother's brother William Adams and his wife Ida Adelma Heath whom she called father and mother for the rest of her life. The family moved to the Los Angeles, Califorinia, area where Olive met her husband Don Chapman and married him on June 7, 1936, on the Church Of The Fireside Radio Show at 9:00pm. Olive died September 24, 2002. Olive is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Chapman and daughter, Linda Leta Barnett. She is survived by two daughters and four grandchildren. Olive worked as a cook in the school lunch program in Escondido, CA, the Tucson Unified School District and at The Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. She was a volunteer in the Craft Room at Tucson Medical Center for a number of years. She continued to knit after her vision loss due to Macular Degeneration in 1995 until she suffered a massive stroke on September 1, 2002.
