page 110 - Benjamin F. Morey, cooper, Middleboro, was born in Franklin County, Vermont, 07 Apr 1807, son of Charles and Phoebe (Blanchard) Morey who were the parents of thirteen children, of whom Benjamin F., is now the only survivor. Charles Morey came to Erie County in 1828, locating in McKean Township, where he died about the year of 1845. Of his family, William was a soldier in the War of 1812 and died from the effects of a wound received in one of the battles. Our subject married, 25 Sep 1828, Charlotte Buck, born in Lancaster County, P.A., 21 Jul 1809, daughter of Joseph S. and Betsy (Eastwood)

Joseph S. and Betsy (Eastwood) Buck, the former a native of Pa., and the latter of New York State. Six children have been born of this union - Jared, William S., Joseph A., Benjamin F., Emma and Charles M. Joseph and Benjamin were soldiers in the late war. The former enlisted in 1862 in the 145th Pa. VI and the latter in 1864 in the 211th Pa. V I. Joseph was discharged on account of ill health before his term of service expired. Benjamin F., the elder, a cooper by trade, came to Eire County in 1826, and settled in McKean twp. He has held the offices of Town Burgess, Councilman and School Director for a number of years. He is a member and class leader of the M.E. Church. In politics, is a Republican. Charles M. Morey carries on the cooperage at Middlebro, and does a prosperous trade, manufacturing butter firkins, flour barrels, tanks, cisterns, etc.

Jared B. Morey, farmer, P. O. McKean twp., was born in McKean twp., 24 Sept 1829, son of Benjamin and Charlotte (Buck) Morey. Mr. Morey married 10 Sept 1851, Alta Andrews, born 10 Mar 1830, daughter of Philemon and Orpha (Pinney) Andrews, the former born in Connecticut, 2 Mar 1779, died Summit twp., 6 April 1872, and the latter born in Mass. 16 Oct 1805. By the above union, there is one child - Nettie, born 11 Nov 1853 (now wife of Woods Tallmage, of McKean twp.): they have one child - Myron J., born 2 April 1872. From 1857 to 1862, Mr. Morey resided in Summit twp., for which he was Collector one term. He subsequently returned to McKean twp., and, in 1867, purchased the farm upon which he now resides; it comprises 190 acres. Mr Morey is now Director and Secretary of the Public School of Middleboro, and has filled the office of Assessor, Collector, Constable and Judge of Elections in McKean twp. He is also Secretary, Treasurer and Salesman of the Middleboro Cheese Factory. Mr Morey with his wife, is a member of the M. E. Church; in politics he is a Republican.
