BARNARD. John P. Barnard, loving father of Patricia Barnard; brother of George and Joseph Barnard.

On his WWI Draft Registration, John claimed an exemption from military service due to a wife and child. However, he must have subsequently enlisted, as he is listed as being a PFC 1C in the 565th Infantry Regiment, 91st Division. He was a patient at the US Veterans Hospital in Alameda, CA, in 1942 and was eligible for burial in a national cemetery.

Note: Patricia was the daughter of his second marriage to Evangeline Florence Cordero. He also had a son, John Philip Barnard Jr., by his first marriage to Vivian. John Jr. changed his name to David and died in Tacoma, WA in 1983.
