"Taps" were sounded last week for Captain A.L. Cooper,of Mammoth Spring,veteran president of the Blue and Gray Reunion.He was one of the pioneers of Northern Arkansas,coming to Mammoth Spring in 1886.During the Harrison administration he was postmaster of that town.Captain Cooper was 82 years old.He was born in Herkimer County,New York.When a young man he enlisted in the Union army in Company D,132d Pennsylvania volunteers and served until the close of the Civil WAr.He was buried in Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring with military honors.
