Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Bethel Baptist church, west of Clarks, with the Rev. J. D. Kitchingham, assisted by Rev. Branton, officiating.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Josie Childress of Columbia; two daughters: Mrs. Joseph E. Steiner of Pasadena, Texas, and Miss Ethel Childress, who is connected with the Caldwell Parish Health Unit; one brother, James W. Childress, of ward nine; one sister, Mrs. Charles Bryant of Bastrop and two grandchildren.
Mr. Childress had spent most of his life here in Caldwell parish where he was engaged in the logging business for years. Later he purchased a farm on the Eastside in ward two, and for several years was engaged in that profession.
