Lafayette Ind.-Frederick R. Schumann, 77, of 1206 S. 14th St. and formerly of Watertown, Wis., died Sunday morning, Aug. 30, 1998 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette with the Rev. Daniel P. May officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 o'clock tonight at the church.
Memorials may be made to the church's general fund. The Soller Baker Funeral Home of Lafayette is serving the family.
He was born July 19, 1921 in Watertown, the son of William and Delhia (Remmel) Schumann. He had lived in Lafayette for 43 years, moving there from Watertown. He was a graduate of Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, and attended a local college for two years. One June 6, 1942 he married Lucille Bohlken in Watertown. He was self-employed in the shoe business, where he designed, made and sold shoes. He was also employed for Indianapolis Life Insurance and was manager for various retail businesses. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, where he served in many capacities in the church, including as an elder.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John W. of West Lafayette; one daughter, Barbara Ann(Emil) Ray of Van Buren Ark.; one sister, Arline Fuerstanau of Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Arnold of Jefferson, Wis.,10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one son, Paul, and one brother, Arthur.
