Private Family Service for Julia L. Borchardt, 94, of Welcome, Minnesota were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Welcome, Minnesota with Pastor Bruce Falksen officiating.

Julia died on Saturday evening, April 30, 2011 at the Roxanne House in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Julia Lydia Soucek was born on July 4, 1916 to Frank and Anastasia (Wiesner) Soucek on her parents farm in Wisconsin Township in Jackson County, Minnesota, she was the youngest of eight children. She was baptized at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson, Minnesota. Julia attended school in District #105 in Wisconsin Township in Alpha until the 8th grade. Her early years were spent helping out as a domestic and later during World War II she worked at Thompson's Café & the Matuska Clover Farm Store in Jackson. Julia was united in marriage to Harold W. Borchardt on March 20, 1945, at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Welcome, Minnesota. They moved into Welcome in 1946 where she was a full time homemaker and assistant in her husband's Insurance business for seventeen years. Harold passed away on May 5, 1991. Julia continued to live at home until she had a stroke in 2007. For the past years she has been at the Roxanne House in Fairmont. Julia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. In her early years she was active in the Mission Society & the Martha Circle. She also taught Sunday School, Bible School and release time for many years. She was Past President of the Welcome American Legion Auxiliary where she was a 50 year member. She also spent several years as a Den Mother of the local Boy Scout group and as a council member of the Girl Scouts. Her and Harold enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years after his retirement. She also loved to sew, crochet, knit, gardening and spend time with her family. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother to us all.

Survivors include her daughter, IdaRae (Joe) Roessler of Fairmont, Minnesota; two sons, Harold (Susan) Borchardt of Welcome and Glenn (Kathy) Borchardt of Fairmont; seven grandchildren; Douglas Roessler, Elizabeth Hill, Justin Borchardt, Chris Borchardt, Tiffaney Kelly, Nita Ludacer and Greg Borchardt; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Stella Soucek of Jackson and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold of 45 years; sisters, Alice and Ann; brothers, Milo, Rudolph, Frank Jr., Edward and Albert Soucek and other relatives.
