A celebration of life service for Glenn Borchardt, 67, of Fairmont, MN, will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church. Glenn passed away Saturday morning, December 17, 2016, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN after fighting a courageous battle with brain cancer. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Glenn Borchardt was born on December 11, 1949, in Fairmont, MN, the son of Harold and Julia (Soucek) Borchardt. He attended school in Welcome, MN, and graduated from Welcome High School with the class of 1967. Following his graduation, Glenn attended college in Bemidji before enlisting in the Marine Corp.
Glenn served his country during the Vietman War from 1969 to 1971. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned home to Minnesota and received his Mechanical Drafting Degree at the Jackson Vocation College in Jackson, MN.
On January 22, 1972, Glenn was united in marriage to Kathy Wickert at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN. Together the couple lived in Fairmont where Glenn joined the family business and became part-owner of Borchardt Insurance Agency in Fairmont. He was also actively involved in the operation of Borchardt Dance Company with his wife Kathy and later his daughter Nita.
Glenn was a very modest and humble man. He had three great loves; Faith, Family and Country. He cared about living his life as an honorable man. Glenn was a family man, always supporting the endeavors of his wife and children and cherished time spent with his eight grandchildren. Glenn loved all things nature and was an outdoorsman. In his free time, he especially loved being out on the lake fishing and was often asked for advice on when and where the fish were biting. Glenn treasured the simple things in life and was such a happy and peaceful person. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and called him a friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathy Borchardt of Fairmont, MN, children, Tiffaney Borchardt and her husband, Tim Kelly of Sacramento, CA, Nita Borchardt and her husband, Eric Ludacer of Fairmont, MN; and Gregory Borchardt of Alameda, CA; grandchildren, Colin Kelly, Colette Kelly, and Magali Kelly, McKenna Ludacer, Mahren Ludacer, Easton Ludacer, Andre Borchardt, and Axel Borchardt; brother, Bocky Borchardt and his wife, Susie of Welcome, MN; sister, Ida Rae Roessler and her husband, Joe of Fairmont, MN; mother-in-law Dolores Wickert of Apple Valley, MN, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Julia Borchardt.
