CHURCH HILL – Earl Clinton (Boot) Armstrong, age 83 of Church Hill passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Armstrong was a life long resident of Hawkins County, and was a member of the Amis Chapel United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Holliston Mills Company.

He is preceded in death by his son, Allen Armstrong, Parents, William & Maude Henard Armstrong, Brothers, Joe Armstrong and Lawrence Armstrong, and sister, Lucille Calton.

Survivors include is wife, Emma Belle Helton Armstrong of the home, Son, Presley Armstrong of Surgoinsville, Daughter, Robin Smith and husband, David of Church Hill; step children, Fred Armstrong and wife JoAnn, Ivan Armstrong and wife Donna all of Surgoinsville, Rinda Simpson and husband, Larry of Church Hill; two grandchildren, Garrett and Rachel Smith; 11 step-grandchildren and 19 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eula Armstrong of Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 8 PM Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Fowler and Rev. George Winegar officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at the Armstrong Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Armstrong, Mickey Armstrong, Donald Henderson, Albert Horne, Kyle Ward, Mack Armstrong, David Smith and Dave Harrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Amis Chapel United Methodist Church Men.
