Dancer, teacher and Choreographer. Born in Russia with the title Countess of Beausacq but raised in Shanghai. She studied classical dance with Preobrajenska and Nijinska and later studied modern dance in Germany with Laban. From 1929 with danced in a company run by Ida Rubinstein. Later she joined De Basil and the Blum's Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo. She created roles in Les Presages, Choreartium and Symphonie Fantastique by Massine. She began choreographing in 1937 and was invited to work with the San Francisco Ballet and the Ballet Opera of Havana. She started her own company in 1949 in Madrid and made for them The Quest and Valse Triste. In the 1950's with moved her career to South America, initially Argentina. In 1954 she arrived in Brazil and worked as a choreographer for the Rio de Janeiro City Theatre. Her works included Zuimaaluti and Tahina. She gave up chorographing in the 60's and devoted herself to teaching. She was a major influence in the development of Modern Dance in Brazil.
