Wickham Byrd Coleman, 83, of "Coleman Farm", Caroline County, departed this Earth Friday, April 13, 2012.
Born February 4, 1929 to Henry Wickham and Clara Allen Coleman. He was preceded in death by brother, Douglas Allen Coleman.
Survivors by his wife, Doris Macy Coleman; a son, Wickham B.Coleman, Jr. (Debra); four grandchildren, Bradford Coleman of Richmond, Bridget Coleman of Caroline County, Robert Seward of Richmond, and Pamela Seward of Caroline County; three nephews, Allen Coleman (Marianna), Mark Coleman (Sissy), Matthew Coleman (Jackie), and two nieces, Amy Coleman Lehman (Gary) and Heidi Coleman ( Tom); four great-nephews, Douglas Coleman, Thomas Coleman(Shannon) and their son, Kaiden, Ben Coleman and Coleman Lehman; and three great-nieces, Jennifer Coleman, Monica Coleman and Madison Coleman.
Mr. Coleman graduated from Caroline High School in 1946 and then received his Masters Degree in Education from VPI. Mr. Coleman served 39 years in the Education field as a high school teacher and high school principal at C. T. Smith High School in Caroline County. He was supervisor of Agriculture Education at the Virginia Department of Education. He was a lifetime member of Carmel Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Deacons, numerous committees, as Sunday School teacher, Church Trustee and Sunday School Director. He had been a longtime member of Reedy Church Ruritan Club.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, April 16, 2012 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Pastor Gerald Castlebury officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, VA.
The family will receive friends 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM Sunday, April 15 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 52, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546 or Caroline County Agricultural Fair, P. O. Box 1207, Ruther Glen, VA. 22546..
