Jeanette E. Fortier, 76, of Washington Apartments died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Graniteville. Born in Barre on May 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Hazel (Clark) Hutchinson. She attended school in Graniteville.

She was employed at the Barre Steam Laundry and the Barre Canadian Club for several years.

In 1948, she married Raymond Fortier, Sr., and later divorced. He passed away on Aug. 26, 1995.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Fortier Jr. of Graniteville; one daughter, Barbara Farr of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Ronnie Hutchinson of Williamstown and Richard Hutchinson of Berlin; one sister, Eunice Colombe of Barre. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by one brother Robert Hutchinson and two sisters, Joyce Nadeau and Leona Hutchinson.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre October 5, 2006.

The Rev. James E. Zuccaro, parochial vicar of the church, was the celebrant.

Crucifer Robert Bates was altar server, read scriptures from the Old and New Testaments and led the prayer of the faithful.

Organist Angeline Ennis accompanied vocalists Christine Hrubovcak and Romeo Bilodeau in several hymns.

Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Kelly Ciccarelli, daughter-in-law, and Sophie Isham, grand- daughter. Assisting as Eucharistic minister was Cecile Carbonneau.

Words of remembrance were offered by granddaughter Crystal Fortier.

Pallbearers were Scott Peterson, Ralph Peterson, Robert Minor, Joe Bushy, Roger Chaloux and Hecker Chaloux.

Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Barre, where Father Zuccaro offered committal prayers and family members placed roses on her casket.

Following the burial family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club in Barre for a time of fellowship and refreshments
