Irene Edwinna Baker, age 74, of Prosser, passed away on March 10, 2013 at Tranquility Haven in Kennewick, Washington.

She was born in Toppenish, Washington to Nathan and Edwinna (Montgomery) Bateman. She was the youngest of the three Bateman girls.

Irene lived in Prosser for most of her life. She married her husband Tony (Hubert) Baker in November of 1959. She was the mother of two sons, Nathan and Kim Baker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Prosser Ward and enjoyed the kindness and the fellowship of the members of her ward and it made her happy when she was able to help others. She worked for many years at Twin City Foods where she called many of the people she worked with friends. Irene loved friends and good food. She could tell you which cafe or restaurant to go to and which to avoid. She knew all the good places to eat wherever she was going. She liked to cook and she loved to eat what she cooked and loved sharing it with others. Her greatest joy was to be able to spend time with her grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her two sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Nate (Alex) Baker of Syracuse, Utah and Kim Baker of Spokane, Washington and her many grandchildren. Irene will be missed by both family and friends.

Graveside services will be held in the Prosser Cemetery on Friday, March 15th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Prosser Funeral Home to be used toward funeral expenses.
