Died--Bales--On Thursday, November 24, 1898, at her home near Hill City, Kansas, Mrs. Cora C. Bales, aged 31 years.

Cora C. Lamphere was born near Strawberry Point, Clayton County, Iowa in the year 1867; lived there with her parents until 1872 at which time they moved to Osborne County, Kansas, residing there four years, and then moved to Kirwin, Phillips County. At the age of 19 she was married to John Lincoln Bales. Three children were born to their union. Two little girls are left with the sorrowing father to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother, one baby boy preceding her eight years. Two years ago they moved to Graham County near Hill City at which place she united with the M. E. Church, living a true Christian and dying with a sure hope of eternal life.

The remains were brought to Kirwin on Friday last, and the funeral sermon was preached at the M.E. Church Saturday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. W. G. Littell, and the many friends of the mourning relatives followed the deceased to the Kirwin Cemetery where interment was made.



On October 27, 1886, Cora C. Lamphere married John Lincoln Bales in Phillips County, Kansas.
