He was a construction worker, a member of the Laborers Union and Bartenders Union. He was a veteran of WW II and was awarded the Silver Star. He was a member of the Veterans of Foriegn Wars Post 7190.
Surviving are his wife, the former Irene Kennedy, twin brother Charles Gillooly, brothers Bill, Gene, Jim and Robert Gillooly, all of Murphysboro, and sisters, Mrs. Katherine Koenig and Mrs. Marie Volner of Murphysboro, Mrs. Thelma Huppert and Mrs. Mary King of Carbondale.
He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Meyer Denny Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. J.J. Taggart officiating. Burial was in St. Andrews Cemetery.
