James Henry Gillooly was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on February 28, 1929, the son of James and Katherine Puttman Gillooly.
He married Sue Lambert in Murphysboro on March 29, 1952.
He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Deborah Jones, Jamie Tuttle, and Janet, Gina, Barbara and Diane Gillooly, all of Murphysboro; two grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Koenig, Thelma Huppert and Mary King, all of Murphysboro; and two brothers, Gene of Makanda and Robert of Murphysboro.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Gillooly was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
He was a guard at the Menard Penitentiary in Chester.
He was a veteran of U. S. Navy Service in World War II, and was a member of Paul Stout Post 127, The American Legion, in Murphysboro. He was also a member of the Forty and Eight in Murphysboro.
Mr. Gillooly died at age 45 on Friday, March 15, 1974, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Burial in Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery.
