Thomas "Tommy" Covington of Bristol Township passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, in the Silver Lake Center. He was 86.

Born in Rockingham, N.C. he was a longtime area resident.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry in New Jersey.

He was educated in the Rockingham Public Schools.

He enjoyed gardening and digging for gold and loved feeding his cats. He always dreamed of returning to his home in Rockingham.

He was the husband of the late Myrtle Covington and the father of the late Hopson Covington.

He is survived by two granddaughters, Brenda Scott of Willingboro, N.J., and Lisa Covington of New Haven, Conn.; three great-granddaughters, Sharlette and Shawanda Covington of New Haven, Conn.; and Nijaha (Danell) Snelling of Willingboro, N.J.; four great-greatgranddaughters, Danell Jr. and Dylan Snelling, Jayla Hooks and Dre-Enna Covington; his niece, Carrie Rogers (Thomas) of Bristol; and nephew Clinton Jones of Philadelphia; three very special great-nieces, Joan Debois, Blossom Jones Tull and Ann Watts; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend his service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Molden Funeral Chapel, 133 Otter St., Bristol, where a calling hour will begin at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Bristol Cemetery.
