Essie Jean Gilmore, 67, of Yuma, passed away at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Born at Fort Yuma, she was a homemaker.

A visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Yuma Mortuary Chapel, with services 3 to 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. at Quechan Big House. Cremation will be at dawn Friday at Quechan Cemetery.

Essie Jean Gilmore went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2012. She was born on November 24, 1944 in Fort Yuma Indian Reservation.

Essie was involved in traditional activates with the Quechan Senior Center. She was a loving caring, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin to all of her family.

Essie is survived by her sons, Vernon Gilmore Jr., Laverne Gilmore and Lonnie Gilmore; daughters, Ila Hart and Bobbie Massey; sisters, Shirley Hart, Marlene Porter; brothers, Andrew Denard and Leroy Denard; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandchildren, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Gilmore Sr.; mother, Betty Pen Denard; father, Leslie Hart; and sister, Darlene Hart Castillo.

Pallbearers will be Terrance Rose Jr., Joseph Rose, Adrain Rose, Ashley Rose, Daniel Gilmore, Steven Gilmore, Laverne Gilmore Jr., Dale Daniels Jr., Eddie Hill Jr., Malachi Allen, Frank Kinale, and Malow Golding.

Honorary Pallbearers are Vincent Durand, Roy Durand, Fred Alvarez, Boyd Hill Sr., Rod Hart, Marlo Barley, Stacy Durand, Gilford Amado, Bruce Montague, Vernon Gilmore, Linnie Montague, Andrew Denard, Leroy Denard, Vernie Gilmore, Neil Hill, Donald Escalanti and David O'Brien.
