Mr. L. Weatherly, 61 years old and a lifelong resident of Appanoose County, passed away at the Masonic Hospital at Bettendorf, Iowa, Monday morning, following an illness that has extended over a considerable length of time. He had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks, during which time his condition was known to be critical.
Funeral services are being held this Wednesday afternoon, from the Moravia United Brethren Church, Rev. Luther W. Childs of the First Baptist Church of Centerville officiating. The Masonic Lodge will have a part in the service. Interment will be in Moravia Cemetery.
Mr. Weatherly was born in Appanoose County, Aug. 2, 1873 and had lived in and near Unionville all his life. He was an honorable and respected citizen and revered by his many friends and associates. In death he will be mourned by many friends as well as the relatives.
He was married to Cora F. Clark of Unionville, Iowa, in 1902. Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Merle Gordon of Udell, a son, Dwight J., of Corning, Iowa and three grandchildren.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the United Brethren Church.
