The son of Herman Louis and Lydia Katherine (Bohnenberger) Mueller was born on the homeplace north of Guymon on September 4, 1918.
John attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the Class of 1934. He was an Army Veteran, serving in the tank division during World War II.
John and Cordelia (Blaske) Bartels were united in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Guymon on November 5, 1950.
Mr. Mueller was engaged in farming all of his life. He was an active member and has held several offices in the Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, Harry Mueller, one infant sister, Elizabeth Mueller and one grandson, Kevin Bartels.
Survivors include his wife, Cordelia of the home, his step-mother, Marie Mueller of Concordia, Missouri, six children, Arnold Bartels of Blanchard, Geraldine Snapp of Boise City, Marilyn Dalrymple of Amarillo, Texas, Norman Bartels of Elgin, Illinois, Wayne Bartels of Guymon and Edward Mueller of Guymon, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one brother, August Mueller of Guymon, two sisters, Ruby Blaske of Blue Rapids, Kansas and Fern Popp of Blackwell, two step-brothers, Robert Schlesselman of Elmhurst, Illinois and Jim Schlesselman of Long Beach, California and one step-sister, Melba Schlimpert of Concordia, Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning September 26, at 10:00 a.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Guymon with Rev. Mark Wescoatt officiating.
Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Mueller family request memorials be given to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at the church office or the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 739472.
