Harold G. Conway, 78, of Decatur died 8:05 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 25, 1990) in his home.
Mr. Conway was born in Greene County, son of Arthur Elbert and Edith Dot Hughes Conway. He married Ruth Kopp on Aug. 17, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was a former employee of George H. Walker Plumbing & Heating, 50-year member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 65, past president of Decatur Audubon Society, former trustee of Macon County Conservation District, Whitmore Township precinct committeeman for 20 years, member of Garver Brick United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Good Samaritan Inn. He was also employed (Civil Service) in repairing and rebuilding Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, after Japanese attack in 1941.
Surviving are his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall and Nancy C, and George and Nancy L., all of Decatur; Walter and Sharon of Oreana; daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Ron Ritchie of Eau Claire, Wis.; Kathy and Dave Flannery of New Port Richey, Fla.; brother, Lyle of North Pekin; sisters, Geraldine Wilber of Webster Groves, Mo. ; Margaret Masterson of Pomona, Calif.; Thelma DePasquale of Honolulu, Hawaii; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial was in Garver Cemetery.
