WGY Radio Host for 30 years known as "Uncle Don." Don, age 76, had a 50 year career in radio broadcasting. His route to WGY began in the advertising and marketing arenas, and included a stop at WNYT in the late 1960's, where he was a weatherman. He was then the morning talk show host at WGY for over 30 years (and made my long morning commute bearable!). He was funny and folksy. He was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and won a Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters. He met Suzanne in old Nott Terrace High School and they were married for 54 years. He is survived by his mother, **Edith Barns; four children and five grandchidren.
(*Information paraphrased from articles in The Daily Gazette, WGY online, Saratogian and Times Union)

*Born in either Albany or Schenectady, raised in Schenectady
**His mother, Edith married her first husband in 1951. Her maiden name was Weeks and no father is listed for Donald in any of the obituaries.
