Emiel Martens, 78, of 624 Cherry st., died early Thursday morning, Jan. 9, 1958, after a brief illness.
Born in Belgium, Mr. Martens came to this country 61 years ago, and had farmed in the Charlotte area during that time. He married Mary DeSloover on Sept. 2, 1905. She passed away Jan. 10, 1957.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Frank Reimer of Detroit, Mrs. Allen Kretschman of Charlotte and Mrs. Donald Joseph of Potterville; one son, August of Vermontville; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Rosary services were held at the Pray funeral home. Mass was Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
