Raymond Vernon Henderson, 86, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Craven Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Onslow County and an Army veteran. He resided in New Bern for most of his life and was a former manager of Seashore Transportation for the New Bern, Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point area. He was also the sexton of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Retha Smith Henderson, of Stella; three daughters: [Gayle] Henderson, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Margo Dye, of [Roosevelt, Utah]; and Linda Boyson, of [Hooper, Utah]; a brother, Levi Shelton Henderson, of Chapel Hill; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1821 Rhem Ave., with the Rev. Bill Wingard officiating. Private burial will be in the Barnhill-Morris Family Cemetery in Stella. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church prior to the service. Arrangements by Sayland Funeral Home, Maysville.
