Corl Maurice Elston, age 71, formerly of 55 Smiley Gardens Apartments, Shelby, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 16, 1996 at the Heritage Care Center after a long illness. He was born January 23, 1925 in Steuben County, Indiana the son of George Frederick and Elva (Timmons) Elston.
He was a mechanic, having worked at Fred Laubie Ford, Kerr Motors, Don Murray Ford, and Skarl Pontiac-Buick, all in Shelby. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby and was an Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Elston is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Jean and Ralph Barber of Shelby and Janice and Fred Eichinger of Shelby; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Dale Elston of Auburndale, Florida, Gerald Elston of Anderson, Indiana, Paul Elston of Polk City, Florida and Harold Elston of East Tawas, Michigan; 1 sister, Gemima Sierrer of Angola, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Elston, Jay Elston, and Daryl Elston, and by 2 sisters, Stella Ford and Leila Elston.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. James H. Humphrey, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
