My grandmother Mattie was the daughter of Leander Brooks and Martha Noble. When she was approximately 5 years old, she was taken in and raised by Leander and his wife Melissa Brooks. At 13, she married Joe Reed in 1907 and had 14 children.
She worked for the post office and delivered mail by horseback.
