My Daddy (known as 'John D')

Dad was a member of the First Baptist Church, Nathan Corley Lodge 294, AF&AM, Silsbee R.A.M., Shrine Temple of Galveston and a past patron of the Kirbyville Order of the Eastern Star, #263. He was also a volunteer fireman.

Son of George Robert Reynolds & Lillie Mae Ashworth

Brother to Susie Louise Reynolds Lee and Sgt Charley Lee Reynolds

Husband to Maida Iola Cherry Married 14 Jun 1930 Jasper, Jasper Co., TX

Father of William Robert,(1931-1999) John Charles (1937- ) & Cherry Lee (1944- )

In the early 1930`s, Mom and Dad lived in Forest, Texas. Dad worked for the WPA, building a road between Alto and Wells, Texas. He drove a mule drawn grader (note the photo).

In about 1934, Dad moved his family back to his home town of Kirbyville. For the next couple of years he drove a semi-tractor trailer cross country. In those days there was no such thing as a sleeper attached. During WWII he worked for the shipyard in Orange, TX as a guard.

Around 1943 Dad took over his Fathers business, as a Texaco consignee. He delivered gasoline and bulk products until his death in 1966.

Thanks Dad for providing for your family. You always managed to make sure we had what we needed and almost all that we wanted.

To Daddy

Oh, What I would give to be a little girl again. To be able to climb up in your lap, to feel the love and protection of your arms around me, to smell that wonderful smell 'that was my Dad'. Forever in my heart. I Love You Daddy, Cherry Lee
