Adeanya June Standridge Hunt, 87, of Olathe, KS, died October 16, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, MO after a brief illness.

Adeanya was born to Carl Ancel and Ottis Lorene Gaar Standridge June 24, 1926 in Vanoss, Oklahoma. The oldest of three girls, she loved to read and excelled in school, graduating from high school at age 15 and from Oklahoma Baptist University at age 19. On June 24, 1946, her 20th birthday, she married Joe Harold Hunt, whom she had known since childhood.

She and Joe moved more than 20 times during their marriage of 53 years, as Joe climbed the corporate ladder with the telephone company. They had four sons - Bruce, David, Paul, and Greg - each of whom now has a family of his own. To ease the family's transition from place to place, "Deanie," as she was known to family and friends, recreated a consistent interior design for each house and even used a butcher paper template for the arrangement of paintings and other wall hangings. Church involvement was a cornerstone of the family's life, wherever they moved.

Adeanya had an encyclopedic knowledge of many topics, loved music, and was an accomplished artist, expressing her artistic abilities through painting, decoupage, faux finishing, and rug hooking. Her master work, a 10' x 11' rug she designed with depictions of Audubon birds and plants, took more than 20 years to complete.

Along with her husband, Adeanya was generous in support of charitable causes, with special commitments to church and higher education. Her children, grandchildren, and others owe their educations to this generosity.

Adeanya is survived by her sisters, Octavia Duncan and Mona Preuss; her sons and their wives - Bruce and Kristen, David and Cyndi, Paul and Nina Martin, and Greg and Priscilla; her grandchildren - Clay Hunt, Kerry Madrone, LeAnna Lynch, Caleb Hunt, Nathanael Hunt, Ian Martin Hunt, Michelle Souza, and Ethan Hunt; 10 great grandchildren and many other family members.

Two memorial services will be held to celebrate her life. The first will be held at Holmeswood Baptist Church, 9700 Holmes Rd. in Kansas City, MO, Thursday, November 14, 2:00 pm (visitation 1-2 pm). The second will be held at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, Saturday, November 16, 2:00 pm (visitation preceding the service). There will be a private family graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery following the second memorial service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holmeswood Baptist Church, Quail Springs Baptist Church, St. Luke's Hospice House, or a charitable cause of the donor's choosing.
