Portal - Cleveland Smith, 102, died Feb. 24 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Hampton, S.C., but had lived most of his life in Bulloch County. He was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Daisy.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Smith of Portal; a son, Isom Smith of Portal; and two daughters, Mrs. Maybelle Johnson of Portal and Mrs. Jamie Mae Williams of Savannah.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church in Daisy, with burial in Mount Olive Cemetery.

James R. Barnes Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
