Warren D. Underwood, 74, died Aug. 5, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Bird City, the son of Irvin E. and Dorothy G. McTaggart Underwood. He graduated from Bird City High School in 1950 and attended two years at the University of Kansas. A resident of McPherson since 1958, formerly of Dallas, he was the
former owner and president of Alliance Agency, Inc., retiring in 1998.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 172, Isis Shrine, McPherson Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters (Court No. 94), Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 24, International Order of Odd Fellows, and Independent Insurance Agents of Kansas, served on the board of trustees of the First United Methodist Church, and served on the board of directors of McPherson Bank & Trust. He was the past president of several organizations, ncluding the Rotary Club, Sunflower Chapter of the American Red Cross, McPherson Chamber of Commerce, McPherson Industrial Development Co.,
and the Kansas Mutual Insurance Agents.
On Oct. 29, 1960, he married Janice E. "Jan" Payeur in Clyde. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Brad, Manhattan, and T.J., McPherson; a daughter, Shari Potts, Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Wallace, Bird City; a sister, Shirley Smith, Hays; and four grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, McPherson. A private family inurnment will take place in McPherson Cemetery prior to the memorial service. There will be no visitation.
