He was born on Feb. 19, 1922, a son of Joseph and Corona Valle Lavarda. On June 12, 1946, he married Gladys Gust at St. Mary’s Church in Mayville. They marked their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Mr. LaVarda was employed at Grande Cheese Co. in Brownsville. He enjoyed gardening, music and playing horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife; children, Tom LaVarda and his wife Toni of Nashville, Tenn., Nancy Koja and her husband Edward of Pompano Beach, Fl., Chris LaVarda and his wife Janice of Appleton, and Dina Guell and her husband Brent of Fond du Lac; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Cyrena Sterr and her husband Milton of Knowles, and Mary Garriety of Nasbro
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and an infant daughter.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. The Rev. Vince B. Holubowicz will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today at Keitzer Funeral Home in Lomira, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
