Bom in Pownal, Vt, on May 5, 1916, he was a son of John and Grace (Hillard) Alcombright
He attended North Adams schools.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War IL He served in the European Theatre and participated in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhinelands, Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Barnett, whom he married Aug. 26, 1938, in St Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams; two sons,three daughters, 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Four brothers, Thomas, Daniel, John and Gerald Alcombright, and a sister, Evelyn Alcombright, and a grandson, David John Kelly, are deceased.
