MRS. OSCAR ADAMS
In the death of Mrs. Oscar Adams at their home in Keeler township the neighborhood has lost another of its pioneers and a highly esteemed friend and neighbor.
Marcia Buck was born in Van Buren county, October 21, 1849, and died July 3, 1918.
Her early life was spent on the farm with her parents in Keeler township where she devoted her time to the acquiring of an education, graduating from the Dowagiac high school at the age of 18 years.
She taught school in her home county for several years, in which capacity she gathered around her a large circle of friends.
On June 18, 1873, she was married to Henry Beattie of Hamilton, who died two years later. To this union was born a daughter, Mrs. H. B. Sill of Portland, Oregon, who was with her mother and assisted in caring for her for several weeks before her death.
On March 26, 1895, she was married to Oscar Adams, one of Keeler's pioneer farmers, who still resides at the old home in Keeler.
Mrs. Adams was one of the leading women in Keeler social circles, and was very active in the various church organizations up to the time of her sickness about a year ago.
She was converted to the Christian faith at the age of 17 years while attending school at Dowagiac. She became a member of the Keeler M. E. church in 1868 and was a devoted member the rest of her life. By her consecrated life and untiring efforts she was used in leading many others into the happy Christian life.
The funeral was held at the home in Keeler July 5, and interment was in the Keeler cemetery.
