Born June 1, 1927 in Nashville, GA, he was the son of the late Glen and Bessie Gaskins. Mr. Gaskins had worked as an auto mechanic for Griner Motors in Valdosta, GA. He served in the US Army during WWII.

He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 62 years, Marisa Gaskins, two daughters; Rosemary Carter (Jack) of Bartow, Charlene Shealey (Leslie) of Tifton, GA, four brothers; Billy Jack Gaskins (Sandy) of Commerce, GA, Ronald Gaskins (Janice) of Tampa, Earl Gaskins (Martha) of Jasper, GA, Jimmy Wayne Gaskins (Shirley) of San Diego, CA, two sisters; Marlene Basson (Steve) of Naylor, GA and Linda Faye Jones (Charles) of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves behind two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
