Mrs. Fannie Brown Died March 21, 1962
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Brown of Foss, 90 years old, pioneer Washita County resident who died Wednesday, March 21, 1962, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, March 23, 1962 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Officiating at the rites will be the Rev. Gerald E. Thomas, pastor.
Burial will be made in Boggy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Loy Brown, Eddie Lee Brown, Bob Pempin, James Alvin Brown, Brownie Trader, and W.R. Rouse. Honary Pallbearers will include Clark Haws, Buddy Gutherie, Elmo Gutherie, Noah Phillips, Wendell Pitzer, and Bill Sullivan.
Mrs. Brown was born in Virginia November 23, 1871, and moved when she was a young girl to Texas where she was married to William Whitfield Brown. They homesteaded in the Boggy community in Washita County. Mrs. Brown died at 1:00 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Romie Stone, east of Burns Flat.
Survivors of Mrs. Brown include three daughters, Mrs. Bill Rouse, of Dill City, Mrs. Romie Stone and Mrs. Elgin Stone of Foss, and three sons, Claude Earl Brown of Foss, J.B. Brown of Dill City, and Luther Brown of Bakersfield, California.

Frances was the daughter of James Harrison and Lydia E. Bowman Pitzer. Frances married William Whitfield Brown on 11 August 1889 at Clay County, Texas. Frances and William had 13 children:
