Lydea E. Bowman, daughter of Samuel B. Bowman and Mary "Molly" A. Meyers, Married 12 December 1855 in Barbour, VA, by Rev. Compton to James Harrison Pitzer, son of Price Pitzer and Frances "Fanny" Poling. Lydia and James had ten children, seven girls and three boys. Children of James and Lydia:

James and Lydea moved first to Brown county, Indiana from West Virginia and later to Jack County, Texas. The Bowman family has a long line of association with the Church of the Brethren. Lydea's son John Riley Pitzer was to become a Preacher for the Church of The Brethren in many cities in Oklahoma.
