Touble was made infamous when she was left $12 million in Leona Helmsley's will. She became known as the world's most pampered pet. The will, that included Trouble but cut out two of Leona's grandchildren, was from 2005. The grandchildren sued that Leona wasn't of sound mind and $10 million was taken from Trouble's inheritance. The general manager of the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel, Carl Lekic, then became the caretaker of Trouble since none of her grandchildren wanted to do it. Trouble was described as a "bitey" dog. Since Leona's death, and after numerous death threats, Trouble was guarded by a full-time security guard. Leona wanted Trouble to be buried beside her at her family mauseleum at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, however the cemetery doesn't allow animal burials so she was cremated instead.
