Obituary in the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune, Thursday, July 10, 2008 -- Walter Robert Brock, 87, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2008, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center. Born on December 10, 1920, he was the son of Fredrick and Martha Eitner Brock.


"Wally" married his sweetheart, Bertha Eliza Clarke, on November 22, 1950, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Bertha passed away prematurely in 1961. He is survived by one son, James Walter Brock (married to Ann Wiley) of Fairfield, California; three grandchildren - Adam, Janet, and Andrew Brock, and brother, Richard Eitner Brock of Salt Lake City. (His daughter, Jane Drew Brock, was born and died in 1956.)


Walter served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He also served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1947-1949. He received Bachelor of Science (1953) and Master of Education degrees (1969) in sociology and education respectively from Brigham Young University. He was an outstanding educator as both Junior High School teacher and school psychologist for the Alpine School District. He was a faithful, active member of his church and magnified every assignment he was given.


He married Donna Olpin Ash on Nov. 16, 1962, who passed away on January 9, 1992. He subsequently married Usa Dunkley Cutler, who passed away on November 7, 1999. He shared his life with these wonderful women and their children and grandchildren, along with his aforementioned beloved posterity.


No formal services will be held. Interment and gravesite dedication will be at the American Fork Cemetery.
