Funeral services for Kirk W. Brown, 19, Big Piney, who died Friday about 1 a.m. following a hunting accident, were held Tuesday afternoon at Farson Community Hall.
President Vernon Stringer of the Farson Branch, Lyman Stake, LDS Church, officiated. Interment was in Eden Valley Cemetery at Farson.
Active pallbearers were Val Jones, Milton Williams, John Watterson, Steve Griffin, Steve Cohen and Ed Burton.
Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Brown, Kim Brown, Robert Brown, Marvin Buckindorf, Harold Hueller, Ray Buckindorf, Lloyd and Boyd Meeks, Dave Smith, Emil Stout, James Eaton, Richard Williams, Bill Meyer and Chris Grafton.
Mr. Brown's death occurred approximately 10 miles northwest of the Merna Post Office, 25 miles north of Daniel Junction in Sublette County.
Mr. Brown died of blood loss and exposure after he accidentally stabbed himself in the right thigh while cleaning an elk. His body was recovered Saturday evening. Sublette County Coroner Richard Tanner and Sublette County Sheriff's officers conducted the investigation.
Mr. Brown was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Logan, Utah, the son of George M. and Lois Ann Thornock Brown. At the time of his death he was a derrick man for Rhoden Drilling Co.
He married the former Susan Meyer at Farson Sept. 28, 1968. He had resided in Farson since 1959, moving to Big Piney last December.
In addition to his wife, Susan, Big Piney, and his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Kelly, Kim and Robert, all of Farson; two sisters, Debra, Farson, and Mrs. Harold (Kelesta) Hueller, Sheboygan, Wis.; his paternal grandfather, Mariner Brown, Woodruff, Utah; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Thornock, Randolph, Utah; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Meyer of Farson, and several aunts and uncles.
He was a graduate of Farson High School with the class of 1968 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.
