December 25, 1913
People of the village were reminded of the uncertainly of this life Friday evening, when Mrs. Frank Baker passed away without a moment's warning. Mrs. Baker had been enjoying her usual health and that evening about 6 o'clock J. G. Kershaw called at her home to take her acknowledgement of some legal papers. She just finished signing the papers when she was stricken with apoplexy. The neighbors and physician were called at once but life was extinct before their arrival.
Sarah Grace was born in Ireland 56 years ago, the youngest of 14 children and the 11th daughter of Patrick and Nellie Grace. She came to this country at the age of 14 years. She was united in marriage September 21, 1880 to Frank Baker at St. Mary's Church; this was the first marriage performed in the present edifice.
After marriage they resided in Olean and Franklinville, moving to Silver Springs about nine years ago. This union resulted in five children, Mrs. Courtland Clark of Franklinville, Frank (John Francis) Baker, who passed away September 8, 1912, Mrs. John H. Judge of Buffalo, Miss Agnes Baker of Silver Springs, and James J., an exact location is unknown at present; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Davis of Muskogee, Okla. and Mrs. Nellie Keough of Olean.
Sarah Baker was a most excellent woman and a home body whose greatest comfort and delight was to care for those she loved. In her family circle her loss will be keenly felt. Funeral services were Tuesday with Rev. J. P. Guren, her pastor, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Silver Springs.
