"Hover Hoverson, aged 79 years, who had lived in Buchanan County for fifty years, died at 2 o'clock yesterday morning on his farm five miles southeast of St Joseph. He was born in Norway and came to America in 1846, settling in this county a few years later. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son. Mrs. Hoverson is seriously ill, on account of which there will be no public funeral services. The burial will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nelson Cemetery east of this city. Mrs. E. T. Nelson [#57662817] is a brother of the dead man and John Hoverson [#162183931], a wealthy farmer of Moray, Kan., is a brother." St Joseph Gazette, January 13, 1901
