SARAH ALLEN
Sarah Allen was born in Yorkshire, England, Jan. 21, 1828. She came to America with her parents in 1831, landing at Phillip's Ferry, now Valley City, Nov. 5, of that year. She united with the M. E. church about the year 1846 and remained a faithful member until her death. May 4, 1852, she was married to Francis Allen who died July 23, 1874. Four children were born to them, Lottie M., now Mrs. S. W. Thompson, John W., who died in infancy, Frank E. and David F. Mrs. Allen was a good and true woman, a devoted mother, and the friend of all who knew her; her children shall rise up and call her blessed. She knew that death was near and her business affairs were all arranged. Her death occurred Dec. 23, 1893, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thompson, near Pittsfield, with whom she had lived for the last twenty years. Funeral services conducted by Rev. P. L. Turner, were. held at Bethel Sunday afternoon, Dec. 24, after which the remains were interred in the cemetery. [Source: A newspaper clipping, unknown date)
