Uncle Ralph was the quieter one of the family, followed Uncle Franks lead pretty much. He was in the Merchant Marines during the war, then settled in Seattle area. He was in Japan when his father died. My father and mother were also in Japan. He came to our house to let my dad know. Since I spent so much time on Grandpa's bed visiting with him the adults had Uncle Ralph take me for a walk and tell me,. He was very kind about it.
