Aunt Doris was the only girl that suvived. She was an original "wild child" married at 16, Lorne at 17, and many husbands. She helped raised the baby of the family my dad, Larry House. She was fun and when she finally settled she was a woman you could count on. She raised her son's daughter, Lorna Henderson with Uncle John Neumann, the man who was able to keep her. Dad told me a funny story of Aunt Doris and him out drinking and driving around Ballard. The alcohol fumes from their open containers soaked into the felt headliners of the old car they were in and when someone lit up a cigarette the headliner burst into fire. Everyone bailed out laughing like crazy. Doris and Larry were very close and she felt bad she didn't get to see us kids while we were growing up. She was a Washington girl, didn't get too far away from Seattle and loved the Ballard area. She and Grandma Carrie clashed, but they loved each other dearly. She spent the last years of Grampa House's life taking care of him and making him comfortable in her home with Uncle John. She was the child that bought his plot in Washelli. Doris was a good daughter to both her parents.
